Design Week Portland at Grady Britton. Be there!

DWP-GC-v4

It’s happening! Design Week Portland meets Grady Britton, meets a live-recording of our Have a Nice Idea podcast series, with none other than Glenn Cole, the co-founder and chief creative officer of 72andSunny.

Why is this so special? Well, first of all, it’s Glenn Cole. Second, we’ll be live-recording the podcast in front of you – a small audience.

Our ECD (And our Have a Nice Idea Host/Maker!) Andy Askren, and our ACD Mary-Catherine Jones met Glenn in-person at a creative retreat in early 2016. Glenn led a breakout session entitled “How to Practice Optimism” which was all about how nurturing optimism can create more innovative work, grow braver people, and cultivate a culture of awesome. No big deal, just one of the most coveted ideals to strive for in advertising/PR (the egos, the subjectivity, the drama, the deadlines, the pressures…..). Yet it’s perhaps the single most vital creative skill we all can have to be resilient, effective, and feel rewarded for what we’re investing ourselves in.

About Glenn Cole, Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of 72andSunny

Like many of us at Grady Britton, Glenn started his career in advertising fresh out of the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication. He spent most of his early years at Wieden + Kennedy, and was in the agency’s Amsterdam office for much of that time. Fast forward to 2004, Glenn helped found 72andSunny, which was recently recognized as one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in 2015, and is a two-time “Agency of the Year” winner for Advertising Age and Adweek. He’s on the board of directors for one of the creative world’s most respected organizations, The One Club. He’s just plain rad.

About the Have a Nice Idea Podcast

Have a Nice Idea is a podcast series that Grady Britton ECD Andy Askren dreamed up about a year ago. The idea behind it came from the notion that there had to be a goldmine of no-rulebook-required/inspiring/funny/you-name-it stories from the advertising world just waiting to be told.

So, Andy partnered with audio ace and co-collaborator Eric Stolberg, owner of Digital One here in Portland, to tell those stories. In the past year they’ve interviewed such creative rock stars as Joe Staples (Wieden+Kennedy), Jelly Helm (Studio Jelly), JD Hooge (Instrument), Danielle Trivisonno (POSSIBLE), Tracy Wong (WONGDOODY), and now Glenn Cole, co-founder and chief creative officer of 72andSunny.

The heart of this podcast simply captures the personal creative experiences/stories of well-respected, innovative creative people — to energize, inspire and stoke our own curiosity and passion for doing ever-greater creative work.

You can listen to past recordings of Have a Nice Idea through iTunes or through the podcast website.
