Checking in on Frank Grady

Frank Grady hasn't slowed one bit … in fact, he’s keeping his nice guy status and sense of adventure as vibrant as ever. Sarah Prince asked him a few questions about life since stepping down at GB. Here's the exclusive interview.

What has Frank Grady been up to since he retired?

Hi Sarah, Glad you asked - retirement has been a whirlwind experience. Of course I still support the agency, and love to come in “to work” and to visit all the special people at GB.

Beyond GB, I have had the opportunity to provide marketing, and PR assistance to a variety of non-profits. I am still on the board of The Salvation Army, with duties ranging from executive committee work to creating fund-raising videos for women’s and children’s programs. Other work includes marketing and digital consulting for the Oregon Historical Society, supporting Clark College Foundation’s capital campaign, and chairing the capital campaign for the Community Warehouse.

That’s a ton of hard work! I know you and Pat love to travel. Where have you gone adventuring?

Pat and I have been privileged to take extended trips to Spain, France and Mexico. In preparation for retirement, we spent a month in Spain, including 10 days of walking the Camino de Santiago. We are looking to visiting Turkey, Israel and Greece this spring.

What’s the next trip on the itinerary?

Our most important upcoming trip will be visiting our special granddaughter, Hannah at Biola University - grandparents day.

You’re doing a lot of pro-bono projects, what are some really fun things you’ve been working on?

There have been many fun and rewarding projects - probably one of the most memorable recently was interviewing and videotaping 6 homeless women, telling their stories as a means of educating our community in terms of the humanity of the women and the challenges they face in changing their lives.

Everyone always says you’re such a nice guy... Are you keeping up your NICE GUY persona?

Being nice is a part of my life. I hope I never lose the gift of kindness.

Since passing the torch to Paige and Andy, how would you rate their partner performance?

I think they are doing a great job on piloting the ship. Grady Britton is a fine company made up of great people. Paige and Andy continue to nurture the agency, and bring success to its clients. I am very proud of the partners and the team.
